How long should a puppy stay on puppy food?
Raising a puppy is one of life's greatest joys. Your cute, little new addition is all over the place playing, wagging his tail, giving you cuddles and love, and bringing joy to your home. But as they grow up you eventually get to the stage of wondering about when it's time for them to switch from eating puppy food to regular dog food? Depending on your dog's breed and size; seven to 14 months old is typically an appropriate age for switching.
It is always recommended to chat to your vet and make sure that you are starting the transition from puppy food to adult food at the right time.

Dry diets should be stored in their original bags and resealed between feedings. Most small bag varieties come with resealable zipper closure, but if the product doesn't have this feature, it is recommended to keep the food inside its original packaging and store it inside of a dry, airtight plastic or steel container with a lid.
Canned wet foods - once opened – need to be covered up and refrigerated within an appropriate sealed plastic or ceramic container that has had some sauce removed from the top first before being stored away for later use. If your pet does not like cold foods at all then you can try warming them up slightly before feeding (please note: if microwaving do so carefully by placing one product on an appropriate microwave-safe dish).
The best way to keep the product fresh is to store it in the original bag, inside an airtight container. The longer you leave it out of its packaging and protected, such as when exposed to heat or moisture, the more oxidization can occur. If you are going to freeze your pet's food-consider that doing so will pull out all of those little bits of life-giving grease and nutrients from their meal which could lead them in creating mold while thawing later on down the line.
Wet foods should also be refrigerated within 1 - 2 days (if stored properly) as they can attract bacteria. Also remember: rinse dishes with clean water as leftover food components may provide a breeding ground for insects.
All of our diets are naturally preserved with mixed tocopherols, citric acid, and rosemary extract. Our canned diets are also sterilized during the cooking and canning process to ensure they remain fresh.
